Sports Update 5/3/2023

Good morning and happy Hump day! The masses are clamoring, the fans are howling, and the people are shouting. The success of my first sports post cannot be understated. To follow up on greatness is always difficult but I will persevere.

Basketball

The NBA playoffs are here, the first round is over and we got to see who are the pretenders, and who are the contenders. unfortunately for me, the Bucks were pretenders. Unfortunately for all of America, the Warriors look to be contenders. Let’s start with my round 2 matchups to get some insight into the key series.

76ers-Celtics

Two powerhouse franchises, you have the Scions of Brotherly Love vs a bunch of Leprechauns. A tough matchup with a lot of grit. Unfortunately the loss of Joel Embiid give the Celtics a major advantage.

Heat-Knicks

Who would’ve had the Heat going past the first round, what an epic underdog story. Jimmy Buckets showing again how being the biggest dog doesn’t matter so much as having the biggest fight inside. (I know that doesn’t make any sense but I don’t care). I gotta go Buckets on this one, if only because knickerbocker is a dumb word.

Lakers-Warriors

Honestly as much as I hate how star driven the NBA has become, I have to admit that all I or anybody else wants to see is Lebron James taking on Steph Curry year after year. The NBA is at its best when Lebron James is fighting for his life, his teammates MIA, against historic dynasties. We’ve seen this fight before, first with the Spurs, and repeatedly with the Warriors. I love this battle, long live the King. I throw my support behind Lebron once again.

Baseball

Baseball, my sweet mistress. It’s been a tough 2 weeks since my last post and I have to say I have been avoiding this post. The Brew Crew and it’s nation have been dethroned from first place by stupid Pittsburgh, my local Nationals have continued to dwell in Baseball’s basement and Indians still haven’t changed their name back. I don’t want to talk about Baseball anymore, the pain is too much. See my picks below

Let’s Make Some Money

5/4 Blue jays over red sox -1.5

5/5 white Sox vs reds, under 9 runs

5/4 nuggets over suns moneyline

5/6 Miami heat vs knicks over 208.5

The Beginning of Baseball Season

I know, I know, Opening Day has come and gone. Opening day for me is just this week though as I get ready to attend my first game of the year featuring the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles. In honor of this, and the fact that some of my most loyal readers are looking to make some money off of my super dope baseball picks, I’ll post my first picks.

The Season so far

What can I say about Baseball that has not been said a hundred times before? A baseball game is the greatest way to spend a summer day and we all know it. Inspiring incredible movies like Baseketball, Bull Durham, The Rookie, and The Benchwarmers. All of which I have watched recently to get back into the Baseball mindset. Here are my thoughts so far, and then my picks for the next week or so.

The Highs

  • What a crazy start to this season! The Devil Rays of Tampa Bay have exploded to a 14-2 start, absolutely triumphant return to form for these guys.
  • My Milwaukee Brewers have also had an incredible season so far, winning their opening series against the Cubs and then maintaining a first place position in the division. Great start, lets hope we don’t fall off like years prior
  • The Nationals are terrible…Why is that a good thing? Its means that I can go to my local MLB games regularly as the tickets are cheap. Even though it will be bad baseball, $30 for 2 tickets is an easy Friday night that I cannot complain about.

The Lows

  • The Phillies have come off of their World Series appearance with a whimper, not a bang. I feel for the city of brotherly love, it has been a tough year for them. I hope to see them come back but I’m not holding my breath.

The Picks

  • 03/17/23 Reds +1.5 over The Devil Rays
  • 03/17/23 Mets Vs Dodgers Over 8.5 runs
  • 03/18/23 Nationals +1.5 over Orioles
  • 03/18/23 Twins Money Line
  • Season Long bets- AL winner- Blue Jays
  • Brewers to win NL Central
  • Brewers to win NL
  • Mets to win NL East
  • Angels to win AL west
  • Aaron Judge to as HR leader

Lets check back in a couple days to see how our picks do. Next up we will be looking at Hockey and Basketball Playoffs. Let me know what y’all think about the above picks and let me know how much money you win.
